Yesterday, Taiwanese actress/singer Ariel Lin (who starred in "It Started With A Kiss") announced that she will be reducing her future workload, and possibly cutting out acting in dramas. Her announcement has raised speculation that her health may be deteriorating.
Two years ago, Ariel Lin was diagnosed with having a pituitary sella cyst, a condition she explained to be incurable despite surgery as there is still a chance for it to recur. As such, Ariel is heeding her mother's advice and is choosing to put her family above all else.
In her own words, Ariel says, "I still love to act, but my health condition is not as good as it used to be. I think I should work within my health limit and set aside some time for people who are important to me,".
Ariel fell ill frequently while filming her new drama "I May Not Love You" in April. She had multiple bouts of tonsilitis because of the hot weather and her slow metabolism rate.
Ariel notes that, "It's tough to be the female lead for a drama series. It's like going through military boot camp, where [one's heart and soul] cannot have proper balance,".
Ariel's boyfriend Cheng Jia Yao had been visiting her on the set constantly. When asked if the reason she was departing showbiz is because of love, Ariel laughed, "I merely wanted him to understand my job. After all, he may be my family member in future."
When the subject of marriage was broached, Ariel hints that she may want a low-key wedding, saying, "I've always lived up to everyone's expectations throughout the years. When it comes to [marriage], I may want to be a little selfish,".
